To delete a file at some other unix server
I need to delete a file located at some other Unix server. Can it be done in a Shell script where I pass it the login and password and it should not prompt me for the same?

You can use rsh equiv commands, but enabling such is dangerous. It would be better to use a script that utilizes expect to login remotely and execute the command. What connection options do you have? Are you using SSH to connect to the hosts?

I know how to check if any file has a unix process using a file by looking at 'lsof <fullpath/filename>' command. I think using lsof is very expensive.
