AUTOFS(8) System Manager's Manual AUTOFS(8)NAME
/etc/init.d/autofs - Control Script for automounter
SYNOPSIS
/etc/init.d/autofs start|stop|restart|reload|status
DESCRIPTION
autofs control the operation of the automount(8) daemons running on the Linux system. Usually autofs is invoked at system boot time with
the start parameter and at shutdown time with the stop parameter. The autofs script can also manually be invoked by the system administra-
tor to shut down, restart or reload the automounters.
OPERATION
autofs will consult a configuration file /etc/auto.master (see auto.master(5)) by default to find mount points on the system. For each of
those mount points automount(8) will mount and start a thread, with the appropriate parameters, to manage the mount point.
/etc/init.d/autofs reload will check the current auto.master map against running daemons. It will kill those daemons whose entries have
changed and then start daemons for new or changed entries.
If a map is modified then the change will become effective immediately. If the auto.master map is modified then the autofs script must be
rerun to activate the changes.
/etc/init.d/autofs status will display the status of, automount(8) ,running or not.

Hi there,
I would like people to test a script on as many situations as possible so we can find out errors and lacks.
I wrote the script to help me work around mount points, especially when doing batch job on files (like backup) and to avoid duplicate operations through mount points.

Hi,
I know that this is probably quite a tiresome issue, but I can't get autofs to work.
I'm using udev rules to create symbolic links below /dev, that always point to the same devices regardless of which port they're plugged in. So, autofs's config files look like this for me:

Dear Admins,
I think it would be good if the page is auto-refreshed after some duration.
generally I do a manual reload/refresh from browser to get the new post/updates.
I am not very sure if its already being done (may be the duration is too long?). (1 Reply)
Hi!
I have an issue with SuSE machines when trying to override the NIS map for home folders.
My /etc/auto.master contains the following:
/home yp auto.homehub

in auto.master there also is a auto.home which... (0 Replies)
I am working on Solaris 10 machine with autofs(auto_home) disabled.
But when I am creating any directory inside /home like /home/Telco, it's going in sleep, and nothing is happening until I manually end the process.
Can any one help me out here?
