sendmail 8.14.4
when I attempt to install sendmail I

1. download the file.
2. unzip the file.
3. I remove the first to lines which appear to be the check sum.

I get a .sh script

when I try and run the script it justs exits.
What am I doing wrong?

Probably step 3.

It would help if you tell more about where you download the file and what exactly you remove.

With those lines in the file when I try to run it I get
cannot execute binary file

Looks like you edited a cpio or tar archive instead of extracting files from it ...

It would help if you tell more about where you download the file

Well, Don't I feel foolish. The file extension dropped off during the download and
I made a rookie mistake of not realizing it.
The file was a tar file. You were correct Thankyou for your help.
