Since the suggested solution is to restore from backup, the answer to your question is "Yes, it will work"


From the link provided:

The /etc/ifor_pmd binary is corrupted or missing
The policy manager (/etc/ifor_pmd) must be present and running for your system to function. If the /etc/ifor_pmd file is missing, restore it from backups.
