Network mandrake 8 beta cant get into KDE!!

im using mandrake 8 (beta) and KDE for my desktop environment... mmmmmkay!

i must have done something where i cant get back into the LOGON menu (am i talking about LILO?)
(you are prompted for username/password and what desktop environment)

my friend told me to try "init 5" but that command doesnt work at all.

what should i do to get outta the shell?Smilie

that is not lilo. lilo is your linux loader, which actually loads the kernel into memory and boots your OS. you probably have KDM as your login manager.

your have to type init 5 as root to get it to do anything. and it also depends on what your systems runlevels actually are.

try just typing startx.

you may also have just switched to a virtual terminal. if you get a message after typing startx like x already running, hit ctrl alt F7.

again your system maybe different, try F1 through F10 to see where X is running.
