PS2PS(1) Ghostscript Tools PS2PS(1)NAME
ps2ps, eps2eps - Ghostscript PostScript "distiller"
SYNOPSIS
ps2ps [ options ] input.ps output.ps
eps2eps [ options ] input.eps output.eps
DESCRIPTION
ps2ps uses gs(1) to convert PostScript(tm) file "input.ps" to simpler, normalized and (usually) faster PostScript in "output.ps". Normally
the output is allowed to use PostScript Level 2 or Level 3 constructs, but the -dLanguageLevel=1 option restricts the output to Level 1.
eps2eps performs the equivalent optimization for Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) files.
Both accept any general Ghostscript command line options, and respectively options specific to the pswrite and epswrite devices.
FILES
Run "gs -h" to find the location of Ghostscript documentation on your system, from which you can get more details.
BUGS
The pswrite device used by both ps2ps and eps2eps produces much lower level output than is desirable. Use with caution.

PS2ASCII(1) Ghostscript Tools PS2ASCII(1)NAME
ps2ascii - Ghostscript translator from PostScript or PDF to ASCII
SYNOPSIS
ps2ascii [ input.ps [ output.txt ] ]
ps2ascii input.pdf [ output.txt ]
DESCRIPTION
ps2ascii uses gs(1) to extract ASCII text from PostScript(tm) or Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files. If no files are specified on
the command line, gs reads from standard input; but PDF input must come from an explicitly-named file, not standard input. If no output
file is specified, the ASCII text is written to standard output.
ps2ascii doesn't look at font encoding, and isn't very good at dealing with kerning, so for PostScript (but not currently PDF), you might
consider pstotext (see below).
FILES
Run "gs -h" to find the location of Ghostscript documentation on your system, from which you can get more details.

I am writing a text for LaTeX compile. I think that my grace figs need to be .ps or .eps files for incorporation. Can one just do a 'save as X.eps'
for this, or is another method required? Thanks- Marshall (6 Replies)
