paste - merge lines of files
SYNOPSIS
paste [OPTION]... [FILE]...
DESCRIPTION
Write lines consisting of the sequentially corresponding lines from each FILE, separated by TABs, to standard output.
With no FILE, or when FILE is -, read standard input.
Mandatory arguments to long options are mandatory for short options too.
-d, --delimiters=LIST
reuse characters from LIST instead of TABs
-s, --serial
paste one file at a time instead of in parallel
-z, --zero-terminated
line delimiter is NUL, not newline
--help display this help and exit
--version
output version information and exit

Hey all, I need to retrieve something from a line, say

hi,
i want to PASTE two files, with a delimiter in between, using awk and pipe the output to another file. i am able to achive the reqirement using PASTE command. but it has a limitation of length till 511 bytes.

Basically I want to shorten URLs on my html pasting site (pasteht.ml), by using "/~a1Pha" instead of "/paste/a1Pha". The ID is 5 numbers and letters, both cases.
For example:
/~idnum serves /paste/idnum.htm
