cp first ~/bin what is ~ symbols importance in this.

What would be the importance of ~ in this command.

cp first ~/bin

Hi,

The ~ symbol represents your home directory... If your home directory is, for example /export/home/you, ~/bin is the same as /export/home/you/bin .
