Bug HOW TO DISABLE SIT0 in REDHAT LINUX 5.1

Hi All,

I want to configure static IP4 address in my Linux system. I just found sit0 is enabled in my system. ifconfig -a returns sit0 Link encap:IPv6-in-IPv4, but there is no eth0.

I tried with $ system-config-network & and changed static IP Add: 192.168.1.10 but no result after rebooting. How to configure eth0 with a static IP.

System: RedHat Linux 5.1 (x86)
Kernel:2.6.18-53

Please suggest me to sort out this problem....

Cheers,
gohappy

sit0 is just a tunneling device, it doesn't stop eth0 from existing. Redhat probably just doesn't recognize your card, you may need to install another driver or a newer kernel. Please post the output of lspci, run from root please. Also ls /sys/class/net .

Thanks for your response......

I have installed the REALTEK module (driver) for my NIC.....now eth0 is detecting and it's working fine.
