Hi Gurus of UNIX,
I am newbi in UNIX. I work in a company that work with a certain type of equipment of networking. I want to configure a SNMP server. I have a PC that had installed Opensolaris, Any want can help, step by step, how to configure a SNMP Server Or can send me the links where I can do it. Thanks gurus of Unix for your suggestions Andres |

Yeah 90% of my job is SNMP on Nix... it is a very dull and full on thing to explain to people when you get right into it.
Cacti forums are a great place to find out information, but, if you just wish to get something going then install the package for your system of NetSNMP and the basic config parameters are fairly straight forward setup you allowed zones and community string (recommend v2c BTW). After this start /etc/init.d/snmpd start and you should be able to connect. Then you may need to start looking into MIB's. |

Cacti and Zenoss are good software packages, But as said before looking into how SNMP works and looking at MIBs would be a good start.
