As any user when I try to su i get this

su: sorry

any ideas... i can only get in root with sudo or console access, but this is strange

im also getting this when i run sftp as any user but root..

Couldn't open /dev/null: Permission denied

Well check the permissions on /dev/null. It should be 666.
