how to increase FS size on SAN DS4800 ?

Hello,
I am using DS4800 SAN with AIX 5.3, and would like to increase the size of the DS4800 Luns, so that my FS increase also.

How to do this please ?

Modifying Lun risk to make all data of the FS being lost ! NO ?

your DS4K supports Dynamic Array Expansion. E.g. depending on suitable diskspace you can increase the size of an array on the fly. IIRC easiest way to get to the corresponding menu was a right click on the array in question. Mind changing the array could take quite a while but that is normal. To promote this change to AIX 5.3 you need to run a chvg -g <your_grown_vg> after the array was expanded so that unallocated PP are added to the VGDA. VG settings for standard, big or scalable VG limits apply.

Well i also work with one DS4800...
but i think that you CAN'T do that after LUN is in use... and if it would be possible, i wouldnt do that if i really need the files in there!

Why dont you backup, change your luns and configurations to what you want and restore system? At least is much more safe.

Hope it helps!

Thank you for your message, in this case, I would prefere to create a new virtual disk (lun, vtscsi, hdisk), and add it to the VG.
But then, then number of LUN will be to high ! So, I really need to know the good way of increasing size of LUNS for aix 5.3 systems.

There is no need to increase DS4K LUN and/or VG offline. Works online like a charm for years.

I just tested a LUN increase of 10GB on an AIX 5.3 server.
It worked perfectly.
It is probably very important to wait the end of the LUN modification before to launch the chvg command.

Thanks.

Of course.... what has not been allocated to the LUN correctly cannot be detected by the LVM...
