AIX is designed by IBM to run on IBM Power processors. The design of the x86 is not under control of IBM. So IBM does not have the same ability to utilize all of the chips capabilitys in the operating system. I'm not sure, but a long time ago, AIX did run in intel chips.

AIX is designed to work on a RISC processor! Why the hell would you want to run it on a CISC? The short answer is NO. In reply to one of the previous replies there was a version ported to run on an IBM Thinkpad (laptop for the unitiated) but the nature of the version of the O/S was shrouded in secrecy and the thinkpad was not freely available.
