Folks, I really appreciate the kudos. Thanks!

But if everyone who finds this script useful was to post a thank-you note, we will get a lengthy thread with little content.

So let's keep the thread useful. If you have a question, suggestion, bug report, etc, go ahead and post. But no more thank-you's. I know it's a cool script.

But I will add a personal note: No one will benefit from this effort as much as I did. I learned a lot as I solved the problems that I encountered writing this script. What's more, I too wanted a recursive ftp script. And not too surprisingly, this one meets my needs perfectly.

I run the following command in some of my folders... and ended up with a huge mess!! find . -type f -exec perl -e 's/blabla/zzzxxxx/gi' -p -i.bak {} \; I had to kill the process and later when I checked with one of my folders.. ls vaditerm.dt.bak vaditerm.dt.bak.bak... (2 Replies)

recursive rcp

I wrote a shell script (AIX) to extract the file "/rep1/toto" from all the hosts referred in a list and send them to one local directory named ~/$host-$file with the hostname as prefix rcp -p user@host:/rep1/$file ~/$host-$file where file = toto ==> it works ! recursive sorting

In the ls command, -t option and -R option dont work simultaneously. ls -t ---> lists the files with sorting based on file date ls -R ---> lists the files recursively. How to make utilize both in the same command.? I want to sort the recursive files listing.. (1 Reply)

Recursive SFTP

Hello, I need to transfer files from Serve1 to Server2. Previously I was using scp command. Now I have to use sftp (due to audit issues). The problem with sftp is (atleast to my level of knowledge) we cannot transfer dirs (and files within that dir). Is there a way to solve this? Looks like... (1 Reply)

NAME

       chsh - change your login shell

SYNOPSIS

       chsh [-s shell] [-l] [-u] [-v] [username]

DESCRIPTION

       chsh is used to change your login shell.  If a shell is not given on the command line, chsh prompts for one.

       chsh is used to change local entries only. Use ypchsh, lchsh or any other implementation for non-local entries.

OPTIONS

       -s, --shell shell
	      Specify your login shell.

       -l, --list-shells
	      Print the list of shells listed in /etc/shells and exit.

       -u, --help
	      Print a usage message and exit.

       -v, --version
	      Print version information and exit.

VALID SHELLS

       chsh  will  accept  the full pathname of any executable file on the system.  However, it will issue a warning if the shell is not listed in
       the /etc/shells file.  On the other hand, it can also be configured such that it will only accept shells listed in this	file,  unless  you
       are root.

EXIT STATUS

       Returns 0 if operation was successful, 1 if operation failed or command syntax was not valid.
