Thanks for the reply Jim. But when I tried the script, it returned "event not found error". any idea what's causing this error? also, i forgot to include in my sample, that the file i want to process is comma delimited. thank you.

Hello, I'm trying to delete duplicates when there are more than 10 duplicates, based on the value of the first column.
e.g.

a 3
b 1
c 1
gives
b 1
c 1
but requires 11 duplicates before it deletes.

now I want to create an output with the first field that is shared in both of them and then subtract the results from the rest of the fields and print there

NAME
syscallbypid.d - syscalls by process ID. Uses DTrace.
SYNOPSIS
syscallbypid.d
DESCRIPTION
This reports the number of each type of system call made by PID. This is useful to identify which process is causing the most system
calls.
This is based on a script from DExplorer.
Since this uses DTrace, only users with root privileges can run this command.
EXAMPLES
This samples until Ctrl-C is hit.
# syscallbypid.d
FIELDS
PID process ID
CMD process name
SYSCALL
system call name
COUNT number of system calls made in this sample
