id - print real and effective UIDs and GIDs
SYNOPSIS
id [OPTION]... [USERNAME]
DESCRIPTION
Print information for USERNAME, or the current user.
-a ignore, for compatibility with other versions
-g, --group
print only the effective group ID
-G, --groups
print all group IDs
-n, --name
print a name instead of a number, for -ugG
-r, --real
print the real ID instead of the effective ID, with -ugG
-u, --user
print only the effective user ID
--help display this help and exit
--version
output version information and exit
Without any OPTION, print some useful set of identified information.

I have this simple script which gives info on HBA ports. How do i get it all to print on the same line?

i want to add the values of 2nd column resepect to 1st column values..for 1 in 1st column i need sum of all the values in 2nd column ..pls tell me hw to do it?? (8 Replies)
Im trying to print /etc/passwd with a variable connecting to /etc group/
But when im trying to print the output, /etc/group is printing also. Can i ask for help on what command to use
so it will ignore /etc/group and only print /etc/passwd.
