Data msn messenger behind a firewall

hi
is there a way to use msn messenger behind a firewall that only allowed http (port 80)???
Maybe there is a patch or whatever...? i know that icq offers a "light version" to chat via http...

please gimme a tip as soon as possible, boredom is getting me more everyday ......and to avoid it, i MUST chat!

It was my understanding that MSN Messenger and AOL and similiar IM programs would automatically change the output port to find an open port for communication, including ports such as 20, 21, 25 and even 80.

Chances are that your employer is using a HTTP proxy of sometype that wouldn't jive with the MSN protocol. Your best bet is to go back to work or get a job in the networking department of the company. Smilie

I think you are able to configure MSN to go through the firewall on Port 80. From the tools menu select Options and go to the Connections tab. Fill in the proxy information and you should be set.

If you need the proxy information open Internet Explorer and from the Tools menu select Internet Options go to the Connections tab and click the LAN Settings button and copy the info under the proxy server section. If you are not running IE there should be a similar process under Netscape/Mozilla/Opera/Whatever...
