Unable to access the CIFS share folder on windows by IP

Hi All

Actually I have NAS Storage and Suddenly I got problem

Unable to access the CIFS share folder on windows host, however the IP is pinging and the share is accessible via share name.

The share can be accessed via share name only on Windows higher Windows Versions.

Firstly, can we clarify the issue.

You have a NAS which is publishing a CIFS share which Windows systems can access?

You have a LInux/Unix system (this is a Unix forum) which was able to access this share but it has suddenly stopped working?

If so, what has changed? What OS is it?

Please explain a bit more.

Thank you for the reply

Actually I have EMC NAS and I’m accessing this NAS shared from Windows 7 ,8 ,10 ,2012,2018

It was working but I don’t now what’s happened the NAS shared accessible by using DNS name

\\sharednasfolder >>accessible with slowness

But by IP is not accessible

\\10.3.4.XX >> not accessible

Is not accessing the NAS shared folder??!!

I’m not Windows Admin I’m the NAS Admin but there is no issue from NAS side

Windows is not allowing us to access the NAS using the IP which is strange thing.

any help

If there are several Windows systems which have not been changed and now they all have a problem accessing the NAS, then that would point to a NAS or network issue. If the NAS ip address is not ping'able then is there a network issue? Switch? Firewall? Cabling fault?
