AIX Smit menu designer. WinSmit

Hi,

Please excuse me for posting an "ad" message here.
Over the last few months I have created software called WinSmit, with this tool you can create your own AIX smit menus and corresponding message files.
We all know the smit or smitty menus that IBM provides to maintain the system, the files that make up a smit menu are complex and editing those file to create a menu was difficult but now you can write your own menus visually and compile them on AIX.

For example you could create specialised menus for the OPS team to start and stop jobs, or the consolidate all your admin scripts in an organised menu. You can create as many as you want/need.
The program is free so try it! All I ask is some feedback go to http://www.winsmit.com to download it.

Cheers Mike

As you said yourself, it is an advertisement. But you aren't selling anything, and your tool looks quite useful (I'm not an aix user, so can't comment).

However, advertising is against the site's rules, so I'm gonna lock this thread. I will not delete it (yet), so that members can still access the winsmit site.

A thread announcing the availability of free software has always been allowed so I went ahead and reopened the thread. It would be best to avoid the use of the word "ad" though. This is an ad free site and we spend too much time combating spammers who try to advertise here. So that a-word tends to invite trouble.

It does not appear to be back in the AIX list?

Anyway, I thought I'd provide some free, possible even useful software.

Without forums like these it is impossible to get some feedback or promote a utility tool.

It's kinda "If a tree falls in a forest with no one to hear it, then does it make a sound?"

cheers Mike Smilie
