New Forum Home for Mobile Prototype

Here is a New Forum Home for the Mobile Prototype. For this update:

(1) Added "Today's Tech Talk" to the top of the home page.

(2) Got rid of the forum status icons.

(3) Increased text font sizes and text margins.

Side Search Bar Beta 1 - Problem with Checkboxes

OK... in the previous screenshots there is a small icon in the upper right in the new header bar which looks like a magnifying glass. That icon now brings up a search bar: Side Search Bar Beta 1 - Problem with Checkboxes

There is some small problem with the check boxes (the sizes are odd and the unchecked box is "bigger" which I have not found the CSS solution to solve this yet....) Anyway, it works except for that small style issue:

Also, I did the first mobile reformat for "show posts" output search option.

I guess next I will do the same for the man pages search function and be close to done with phase II....

Search Sidebar ?styleid=137 View on Desktop

The radio buttons look fine on the desktop mobile view using ?styleid=137 to view the mobile site in the desktop browser ... still not looking great directly mobile so I may change this selection option to a text menu in the future:

Mobile Prototype Man Page Search

It's done for now... here is the mobile version of the man page search. It's a beautiful work of art... Smilie I'm liking this so much I may update the main desktop site with this search feature.

OK... with the man page search mobile prototype working. This concludes "Phase II" of this mobile prototype development.

In "Phase III" I will work to get Javascript working for mobile where we can swipe left and right on our mobile screens for various paginations (pagenav) and other pages.

If you are using the mobile version and see anything that looks strange or that you don't like, etc please post here or submit to the bugs and features section.

Before I proceed to "Phase III" I need to catch up on some other pressing projects (paperwork unrelated to the forums), so please take some time use your mobile phone and view the forums.

Please keep in mind that advanced features like changing avatars, most changes to the User Control Panel (CP), profiles, and most advanced moderation and admin functions should be done on the desktop version.

The mobile version of the site is not meant to have 100% advanced functionality of the desktop features. However, over time we plan to port over more and more with the goal of "someday" have all main features working in mobile.

Thanks.

Oh.. I almost forgot... I have to redo the login form (create another JS / CSS sidebar for login) on the mobile site. Darn! Thought I was done with Phase II !

Prototype New Mobile Login Sidebar

OK.

The new login side bar is done and working OK.

Here is the pic of the new login with login in the top navbar only see by unregistered users. This login logo disappears when a user logs in. Maybe we will change this later to show a tiny user avatar or default avatar when the user is logged in. (Future work).

Here is the new login sidebar:
