This forum is so good it's beyond belief!

This forum has been so instrumental in my learning scripting and unix commands that I seriously can't believe it and have been advertising it to everyone I know. I started from almost zero knowledge and within a few months I already feel much less ignorant.

The amount of information and enthusiasm of the participants is incredible. The moderator has also been helpful more than a few times. No one backs down from a question and everyone I have dealt with so far recognizes that we aren't at the same skill level. They are also happy to give constructive criticism to my posts when necessary.

When I reach to a higher level of unix knowledge, I hope to give back some of what I've received here. This forum is truly amazing, and I was searching for information on a pattern sed command here today and within less than 30 minutes I found what I was looking for without even posting!

Thanks to all!

Completely agree! These are exactly the same reasons to make me (and the most of other users) stay here at Unix.com forum, even though there are number of competitors in different size and shapes.

I also found many shell scripting & system admin Gurus, who can solve complex problems instantly!

Within Open Source, those who come with obstacles and complaints will find few followers. Those who come with detailed questions, solutions, investigations, documentation and test results will find sympathy and ready assistance.

The more I use this board and try to help, the more I learn and realise that there is always more to learn. It seems that my ignorance is boundless, but thanks to this site in particular and the gracious input of many people I have averted my own disasters and found sensible ways to solve problems

I'm from italy and i came in this forum because the italian forums are few and not very good under technical point.

This seems very good, it's a way for me to improve my english and Unix knowledge.

unix.com just demonstrates the power of a great forum.

When you have a unix problem where else can you ask the "whole planet" what they think about it???
