What is on Your Mind?

Hi.

I never saw it until I told NoScript to allow it just now. I see its utility, but for the time being I have it minimized.

Potentially useful for me,yet takes up some real estate.

Most options available in the toolbar are easily accessible from elsewhere too. I presume, long time users would be comfortable navigating to those pages the conventional way. Thus said, it really don't matter to me, if it's there or not ( only thing is, if you're planning on keeping it, please retain the option to disable it too )

We definitely plan to keep the option to disable the toolbar and also plan to add more options to disable other features when members think important.

Based on the various forums I visit, we are the only forum that works to insure options and features are manageable by the members. Most forums "out there" would never add an option to disable a feature if i sent them a request; and most add new features without adding any option to turn it off.

So, i think we are unique in that we really try to think about our members and insure they have a choice on what features to enable and disable.

I think most of the people will love it and find it handy. And, if not, then we can click on 'minimize toolbar'. I say, let's keep it.

Amen to that! This is what sets apart our forum from the myriads of others, IMHO.

In principle this is true, but there is always the performance argument: any new feature will cost resources in one or other way while introducing a new (if slight) risk of making something break. To keep the forum as fast and reliable as possible Neo tries to determine not only if the people are annoyed by it or not, but also, if the effort matches the positive effect. If not enough people really use this or any other feature (even a minority might be "enough" in this sense) then it makes sense not to offer an opt-out but to deinstall it.

For performance reasons, and since unregistered users cannot opt out of the toolbar, I am thinking we should disable the toobar for unregistered guests.

Edit: Update.... disabled toolbar for unregistered guests (for now).
