I'm planning to buy smartphone, my choices were iPhone 4(16GB), Galaxy SII, HTC Sensation and LG Optimus 2x, almost same prices here, with LG being cheapest then Samsung, looked at Samsung SII phone in store today, it looks best among them, after reading reviews here I am more inclined towards Samsung now.

No, did not root yet, but need to root because I need to disable one of the system apps (Voice Command) and the only way to block it is to root the device.

Battery life is dependent on what communications services are running (WiFi, GPRS, GPS, Bluetooth) and what apps are running and how the display is configured. So, I don't think for a phone packed with features it is fair to say "the battery is very bad" because battery life depends on how the device is used - more features, less life, this is true of all devices, given all things equal.

I used to have a basic Nokia phone, great battery life because it did very little.... it was a basic phone. The Galaxy S II is a powerhouse computer, which also happens to be a phone too. It has a 4.3 inch amazing display and of course, this on any phone will use a lot of battery life.

A brick uses no power, so it gets great battery life.... but I don't carry one around in my pocket, IFKWIM.

hmm, if i disable the wifi, 3g, bluetooth then battery life is ok. But if i start to use it efficiently then, it dries in 3 hours.

Every time, when i clear the RAM, around 20 applications are closing. Again those applications starts automatically, so planning to root the device and control the apps automatic startup. And i heard that, once the phone is rooted, the battery life is good and we have a google talk with video..etc..

Yes, there are a lot of apps that are "system apps" that cannot be disabled/blocked unless the device is rooted. Let me know how you root yours, thanks!

Normally, with all these "big screen smart phones" I carry and extra battery which is fully charged. Normally, I don't enable BT, WiFi, or GPS unless I need them. I don't use a BT headset and don't use WiFI much;but I do use GPRS all the time. I use GPS in the car but with a charger on the phone.

I had the same issue with my Galaxy S... it has a big bright display, but smaller than the GSII, and is also rich with features, so I carried an extra battery for the days when I was away from a charger for much of the day.

Not sure why you would have WiFi and GPRS/3G on at the same time (am I reading you correctly?) .... you should use either one or the other, not both at one time, unless of course you are using your phone as a WiFi AP to your 3G network.
