export SSL certificate

we are doing TCP for our systems. I have a working SSL certificate on prodction webserver. Im planning to export it to our DR server for TCP purposes. However when I export based on the procedure below, it doesn't work. When I restart the DR webserver, it still says the certifcate is expired.Any ideas? Do I need to stop the production webserver?

Code:
Step 5. Install SSL Cert on a second server.

  1. Go to the first server that has the SSL Certificate already installed.
  2. Change directories, go to < Sun One installation directory>/alias
  3. Locate the https-<server_name>-cert7.db and https-<server_name>-key3.db files and copy them to the new Sun One Web server's alias directory.
  4. On the new Sun One Web server replace the <server_name> with the new servers name.
  5. Stop and start the Web server.

I am no expert, but I would think you need to generate a new certificate for the nex machine, that says the production machine trusts it, a verifiable chain of trust, as the prod certificate signs your certificate. There may be a certificate in house above the prod server, that you can use to sign your certiicate. One certificate per corporation should be enough, without high admin overhead, if you keep signing down the tree of trust.
