Console connection enterprise 420r
Hellow,

i bought a sun enterprise 420r. I would like to connect to the console for installation of a new operating system (solaris 10)

I made a connection from a usb --> com-port --> serial port of the server.

I configured my hyperterminal (9600 8n1) and when i connect to my server and press enter I get no response from the server.

Does anybody have an idea what the problem could be.

(server is second hand so i have no other options to connect)

Or can anybody tell me how I can reset him to factory settings HW-wise?

have you tried both serial ports? is your usb/serial adapter ok (works with other systems)? and last but not least, do you use a null-modem adapter?

Yes it works because when i hook on an hyperterminal to the tp-port i get output (not readeble off course)

The adapter i put on my serial port is one whe also use at my work to make connection to the 420r server so it should be the correct one
