.sh_history contains the list of past commands

hi, .sh_history keeps a list of past commands that we entered. but it has a limit and where do we set this limit. thanks.

you can set your history limit by using the HISTSIZE variable.

example
To set your history size variable to 50, use this command

export HISTSIZE=50

this can be placed in your .profile file so that every time you log on your history limit will be setted.

To see what you current history limit is issue
echo $HISTSIZE
