Beginner Help

hi guys,
i have a DEl xps laptop cor 2 duo 2.2
i have vista installed on it
i want to install a dual Boot UNIX on it..
can some one guide me ...cause i m tottaly new to UNIX
i want to install unix on that laptop along with Vista....
thx
any help would be deeply appreciated

It isn't a case of "guiding" - Linux distributions - ubuntu for example, ask you if you want to dual boot, then set up a dual boot system for you.

You have to get ther distribution you want on CD, either download it and burn it onto the CD's or get the distribution already on CD.

Small distributions like knoppix can boot and run fron the cd.

kubuntu CDs with me
but i want to install unix solarix along with Windows Vista

That is actually an awkward install to get working, see here:

Although this is OpenSolaris related, the same applies to commercial Solaris.

Unix was before Linux. Linux for the most part is free and open source. Unix is not free and open for the most part. Unix is known to be more secure, more reliable, and better for high end or enterprise functions. But Linux now is in the high end as well.

I know the above is not 100% true and thats why I said for the most part on each example.
