In file1 field $18 is removed.... column header is "Otherinfo", then each line in file1 is used to search file2 for a match. When a match is found the last four strings in file2 are copied to file1.
Maybe:
cut -f1-17 file1 and then match each line to file2

I'm trying to do it with sed, but the problem is also that the spaces between the words are not constant.
Any idea please?

i'd like to remove a broken scsi tape device from a system p5 520. it is the only device on the external scsi hookup.
then i would like to add a new scsi tape device (same model).

I cannot upgrade or add any package in RHEL 5 using 'package manager' GUI tools . When I run the 'package manager' tool then in BROWSE tab , it shows nothing . I try it inserting the RHEL5 DVD in the DVD-Rom . But the condition is the same .
