How to open file in VI Editor at a specific line?
i have following query

e.g i want the VI Editor cursor at line number N instead of 0 while opening the file from unix prompt.

vi filename ??????

Can anyone help?

vi <filename> [+line number]

if line number not given, last line presumed

Didn't get what you said.
Tried both

vi filename.txt +20

vi filename.txt [+20]


None of the above worked. Whats the exact syntax if i have file as Noname.TXT and i want the cursor at line 100 while opening in VI through UNIX Prompt?
