vi editor question
Folks;
I know this may sound stupid, but when i use vi to edit in SUSE, i see the file has a lot of underlines, how can i get rid of underline permanently so when i open any file to edit, i don't see any underlines?

the problem is a mismatch in your TERM setting. Try doing this before you open vi:

TERM=vt100

Try different values like vt220, xterm, console. You can override that somewhere in /etc/bashrc or something. The other thing you can do, which might help, is to turn off syntax hilighting in vim:

:syntax off

You can put that in your global vim.rc file.
