files like glib-1.2.10-sol8-sparc-local.gz has been compress using gzip to uncompress this file

gunzip glib-1.2.10-sol8-sparc-local.gz
this will produce glib-1.2.10-sol8-sparc-local

then issue

pkgadd -d glib-1.2.10-sol8-sparc-local

and this will install the glib file
