Question Delete line(s) from file
What is the easiest way to delete a line from a file?
I have a file that contains list for Domestic and Foreign customers.
I want to delete all lines staring with Foreing.

Try:

grep -v Foreign oldfile > newfile

Remove blank lines this way.

grep -v ^$ file.in > file.out

The ^ designates the beginning of the line and the $ denotes the end of the line. Together they represent a blank line!
