Are u sure you did not specify a logfile, maybe the logfile is being created in the root filesystem.
Anyways, first of all u stop the iptrace daemon & its related processes.

As far I can see the logfile is an requerd argument, did look to a full listen of ps `ps -eaf`( The full command name and its parameters are displayed with the -f flag.)

See man-page found on google:
http://nscp.upenn.edu/aix4.3html/cmd...s3/iptrace.htm

Did you check the /dev directorie for a new/large file with is NOT a device. such a file can be created after a typo.

in the /dev directory, i issue this ls -l | sort -k 5 | more to get the largest file, but it appears to be a device file because i looked at the first entry of the result and it appears to be a c which stands for character device file, right?

i had increased my filesystem size so that doing a df shows that the root filesystem is now 83%, but i before that the filesystem is 99% and this happened after i issued the iptrace command so it must have produced some things that caused the size.....

solutions?

Hi
I hope this can help. In /var/adm is logfile or messages from root when I'm correct. Look at "wtmpx" file this logfile for the "last" command. You can copy it when set it to 0. BUT Don't remove it. This file can get big..

Some info ....

The utmpx and wtmpx files are extended database files that
have superseded the obsolete utmp and wtmp database files.

The utmpx database contains user access and accounting
information for commands such as who(1), write(1), and
login(1). The wtmpx database contains the history of user
access and accounting information for the utmpx database.

I hope this helps you I had the same problem. And the set everything to 0 was ok. But if dont save it you can never check the access and accounting.
