i'm having trouble configuring uux on my two unix systems {system "a" and system "b") and all i can figure out is that i have to have an entry in /etc/uucp/permissions to configure what commands i will have available on system "b"
and uucp has an entry in /etc/passwd but i cannot execute any commands on system "b" from system "a", i'm running hp-ux v10 on both systems if it matters

Sorry, I've not used unix-to-unix copy and othe UUCP processes in many, many years (and normally disable these). Perhaps someone else uses them?

I used to use uucp to dial into remote locations...but they were SCO systems.

Try this though:

Check to make sure the 'uuxqt' daemon is running.

ps -ef|grep uuxqt

I believe this daemon looks a the 'X.*' files to figure out how to execute your commands.

Check the man page. I'm pretty sure you need this running.
