CDROM Woes

Have a Sun CDROM connected to a Ultra machine .
Problem is it is not recognizing the drive being connected to it ...

When i put the CD in the drive it accepts the CD and zooms initially then quitens out ..

The devices drivers are also not created for it ...

Any ideas anyone ... I am trying to use mknod to make the drivers ... But i really got to find out where is the problem

Is this an external cdrom connected to a Sun Ultra? What version of OS? What type of hardware? (Need this information since some Ultra's have a problem with external cdroms).

OR

You can try boot -r from the ok prompt. That may reconfigure the system to see the cdrom. Check that the system sees the cdrom with the probe-scsi-all command from the ok prompt.

Well its a Blade 1000 (sori abt that) with a 8 on it ...

Has an Internal DVD_ROM ...

Boot -r does nothing . probe-scsi-all shows nothing .

According to the information I found on sunsolve, you should insure you installed the dvd per instructions that came with it (part of the answerbook according to the pdf file but I could not find it on docs.sun.com ). Since it shows in this documentation that it is a scsi device, you should see it in the output of probe-scsi-all. If you don't then the system doesn't see it so you need to install per the instructions.

No good, its not recogizing at all .. Even the User guide (LED flash table) indicates that the disc has not mounted which is because there are no drivers.
