you should give more details on that "fatal error"

Did you configure X successfully during RedHat installation?

What version of RedHat are you using?

What graphics card / hardware have you got? Is it compatible?

Have you tried to configure X using XFree86 -configure (if you are using X 4.0 or above)?

Just a few pointers!

it says something like:
fatal error
no screen found.

i'm running the red hat linux 8.0

when i installed it, i didn't get any error pertaining to the installion. i just picked the options that i think i need and install. i'm a beginner unix user. could it be because i didn't pick the options that would enable me to run unix in window mode?
by the way, what is command to know how much space did linux took, how much space is still available, and the total partition size space.
thanks

I guess the graphic card is imcompatible or there wer no drivers with Linux ditribution for the specific card . Better go to the site and check out for it .

THis happens even though the installation was thru a GUI . I wonder how does that happen ...

This often indicates that X cannot find the relevant section in your XF86Config file which details your resolution and color depth for your monitor.

Can you post your XF86Config file here for us to see?
