Unix box is farting
Recently, my unix box has been emitting a fowl smell and is making a short bout of humming and whistling noises. It's pretty old and dusty, but I can't seem to find the problem. I don't want to open the case because it says theres a risk of electic shock. What do i do?

Turn off the power. Wait for a for a while. Chances are you have a lot of dust buildup.
Get one of the spray "air" thingies meant to clean dust from electronic components.

I would guess your power supply is the source of the problem. If you cannot see obvious dust to remove on it then, install another power supply. Or risk losing the cpu or motherboard later on. IF you really do not know what you're doing find somebody who does.

A fowl smell or a foul smell?
I once had a machine with similar symptoms; one of the fans was getting clogged up with dust and fluff.
Disconnect from the mains supply before removing the case.
