Need Samba Help

Hi, I am very new to Unix, do know some RedHat linux. I am wanting to install samba on my unix machine. Not sure where to start, any help would be very much appreciated.

big samba file?

hi, i found out this samba-2.2.1.1.bff in my server which is a whopping 30mb file. what is samba all about and this big file?

I'm not sure of that file - perhaps it's not needed - but DON'T QUOTE ME ON THAT!!!

SAMBA is a series of protocols which allows UNIX and Windows to talk via file sharing - you can access Windows "shared" partitions, it allows you to exports UNIX directories as though they were Windows "shared" directories.

All in all it's a great way to let Unix and Micro-junk computers talk and work together on a LAN.

I use it at home for my LAN, with my FreeBSD box playing the part of a file server - better stability, etc.
