Question Using Samba to join a win 2000 Domain

I am trying to set samba up to join my windows 2000 domain and I am having troubles
If anyone if familiar with this help would be greatly appreciated
I issue the following command
# ./smbpasswd -j DOMAIN -r DOMAINCONTROLER

And the following gets returned

load_client_codepage: filename /usr/local/samba/lib/codepages/codepage.850 does not exist.
load_unicode_map: filename /usr/local/samba/lib/codepages/unicode_map.850 does not exist.
load_unicode_map: filename /usr/local/samba/lib/codepages/unicode_map.ISO8859-1 does not exist.
fetch_domain_sid: unable to connect to SMB server on machine domain controller. Error was : SUCCESS - 0.
Failed to get domain SID. Unable to join domain DOMAIN

I do not understand

I always post questions to various diffrect forums and discussion boards yet I never seem to get any replies to anything I post. Is there somehtign that I do wrong no one seems to ever answer my questions. Do i not post the proper way or osemhtign. If no one can answer my orginally maybe someone can at least let me know this

Well, I can see by your posting times that you waited four hours for someone to help. That's not very long.
Also, it appears that you have not done much searching yourself. For exmaple, the keywords "samba codepage" on Google brought up this page first:

Did you install Samba correctly? Have you tried make_smbcodepage? What else have you tried? What kind of system are you using? Is the domain 2000 boxes, or is it a mix of NT and 2000?

If you want help, please be patient, and don't be afraid to try to find out an answer yourself in the meantime.

Thank everyone for there response... I have been working on finding an answer myself and continue to do so but in the meantime any furhter help would be apprectiated I have it down to only the following error. I have one win 2000 DC and win 2000 web server and this redhat machine I ma trying to get to join the domain

the error I get now is
fetch_domain_sid: unable to connect to SMB server on machine domain controller. Error was : SUCCESS - 0.
Failed to get domain SID. Unable to join domain DOMAIN
