copy all files and folders and cjange or remove ownership
So tried:

cp -r -p test1/ user@machine:///srv/www/vhosts/domain.co.uk/httpdocs/backup/

but this didn't work either Smilie

Anyone able to help with this?

So you're trying to copy the files to a remote host? cp can't do that.. you're probably thinking of scp or rcp?

...and since I saw backup as part of the name, I just thought I should mention rsync as a viable option...

Thanks for the reply.

I just this minute go tit to work.

I copied the files as mentioned above then used chgrp -R to change th egroup ownership. I could then log in under a different user via ftp and download the files.
