Hello,

where can I get complete specification for /etc/hosts? I found a lot of snippets but nothing where the format of file is completely written (I'm especially interested in comments in /etc/hosts)

In fact the file you want to know a bit more is hosts, its complete path is:

Hi.

The man pages often contain such information, for example:

NAME
     hosts - host name database

SYNOPSIS
     /etc/inet/hosts

     /etc/hosts

     /etc/inet/ipnodes

DESCRIPTION
     The hosts file is a local database that associates the names
     of  hosts with their Internet Protocol (IP) addresses.

Thank you I found it just a few minutes before you wrote.. I didn't know that man pages cover even synopsis of files.
