If your school is offering you UNIX classes, they usually offer Telnet fecility so that You can practise. Its temporary though.Your teacher might be in a position to advise you which flavor of Unix you should use.

Since you are using Sun Solaris, you can download from Sun Web by paying minimum fee, dual boot your system and start using it.

Good Luck!!!!!!!

Re: Unix?Help!!

Maybe a little bit late in reply but:

you can try winlinux20001 on www.winlinux.net or

you can get it (winlinux2001.exe) by searching www.kazaa.com You need first sign in, search and download. This is the way actually I got it. I didn't try it works or not but the program runs only under win95, win98, winME and does NOT run under winNT, win2000, winXP
thanks

We are using Sun Microsystems with the Solaris OS in our labs at school. Is there any way that I can get something to practice and use at home? How much would it cost? Is there a free OS? Can I run anything on Windows that might emulate it? Can somebody give me some info on this???Smilie
