how to compile in unix?

i am a new user of unix
I saved an executable in fortran source code and now i have to compile this executable ( on unix). And i don't know to do it .what is the command?

how to compile

goto your shell i use bsd and liunx i only know how to compile in bsd here it is cd /usr/etc/dev/i386
MAKE dev " what ever " bla bla
make install

use your ee in the man pages goto the comand line and type man man

Ok. Let's take this one step at a time.

You have a program that was written in Fortan. My first question: Was this program written on a Unix machine? Are you trying to compile on a similiar Unix box?

The second question is if you are trying to use the same Fortran compiler as the original developer?

If you are trying to use the gnu F77 compiler, check out `man g77` for a list of options and general description of the gnu f77 compiler.
