What is sticky bit? ---sticky bit is a special permission by which a user or all users can get write privelage to a file but can not delete it. only the owner of the file can delete

how can be see if the sticky bit for file is set?---ls -l should display the attributes and at the end of the permissions column you should see -t . this denotes sticky bit is on.

WHat is meaning of sticky bit set on Directory?---sticky bit set on directory means the directory an not be deleted by anyone but the owner. i think so.. not quite sure about this questikn.

What is the syntax to set the sticky bit? With example

chmod 1775 "filemame"

the first number 1 is used to set sticky bit.
775 includes other permissions. 7-r+w+x
5-w+x

Irrespective of this being homework or not, and I do not believe that it is not, your system will have man pages, or even in the extremely unlikely case that they have been removed I have yet to be unable to find them online.

Also please see this rule:
(5) Search the forums database with your keywords before asking.

To date every question you have posted has been answered more than once previously.

Also do not abuse/complain to the moderators for doing their job. Whether or not something is to be classified as "homework" is their decision. The moderators decision is final in this respect.
