i prefer mozilla, though i voted opera.

IE is supposedly just a trial run though, and is not properly supported by microsoft on unix-like systems, is that correct? i don't think i like the sound of an unsupported closed source browser...

Hahaha! I imagine Microsoft would never support any software on any *nix system. They probably just made that so as to avoid some of the monopoly problems.

EDIT: OMG!!! More people actually voted that they'd switch to IE! I hope this is some kind of sick joke... Why would people who have the knowledge to use a *NIX type os choose to use a MS product?

If microsoft will open their source code... we also welcome, why not?

I agree completely.

Also, the day microsoft opens their code voluntarily, will be the day hell freezes over. They have too much work to do re: security before they can open their code i suspect.

IE has been available for Solaris for a long time now. I ran it over 2 years ago on 2.6. They lag behind on new releases; it wasn't available for 2.8 for a while, and you probably won't see the latest version of IE compiled for *NIX anytime soon. Netscape would be alright if it were more stable; I have problems with it locking up and leaving a background process that will eat all the resources it can.
