Data Slackware's Linux 3.0 VS Red Hat Linux 7.x

Hello guys, I got overzealous (I Think).

I got the book Linux Unleashed that comes with the Slackware 3.0 Version of Linux for $2.00.I also have Red Hat Linux 7.2 (No book, just the OS).What I wanted to know was, other than the bells and whistles of Red Hat is there any significant difference between the two OS.Also, is there any reason(s) why I cannot use the book using Red Hat to learn the basics or should I just write this off and get Red Hat Linux Unleashed?

I know this is ridiculous, but I need to know.Thank you for your help

Slackware 3.0 is old (I think they're us to 8.* now...). Redhat 7.2 is newer, although Redhat has 7.3 now. You should be able to use the book to learn the basics, but for advanced and administration material, use a book that correlates exactly with your Linux version, since things change a little bit each release.

To learning unix or linux whatever u got the book will teach u the core, that's nothing to worry about...notice the different between variously sort of linux would be ur part of knowledge, at ease for sure, maybe the ace in the hole for u master OS quickly
