Execution bit for a file

Hi

Given read and write permission ( for group others etc) on any ordinary text file one can edit and view the file . In this case what role does an execution field play.

Well whatever it sounds like it actually is an interview question .

You could have found the answer yourself in just a few seconds and using fewer keystrokes by searching the database. Rule 5 requires this prior to posting.
