Linux Red Hat 7.2 Problem

how come red hat doesn't have this programs which was already supposed to be on it??

take for instance, I was reading this Linux book that says for me to do some work in glint X11 client for packagement. it says glint is accessible from the command line or control panel. the problem is, I cant find glint. also, glint is not the only program that Linux Red Hat dont have

programs like this should be included but are not: netcfg, modemtool e.t.c

i mean, am so lost here. are these files stored somewhere else or do I have to manually install them from the Linux Red Hat cd???

I think you need to purchase an updated book. Glint was obsoleted a long time ago. I think the last time it was used was RedHat 5.x

If you still want to use any of this programs yet you can purchase the Linux Utilities CD from shops. I bought a cd Last month for netcfg and its there in RPM package. You may try to find around if you still cant find it. Or you may check glint X11 webpage on the net for any latest release or source code's. Give a try..

Typically, when you burn / buy the entire RedHat CD set, you'll get hundreds of applications that aren't installed by default simply because not everyone needs / wants them to waste space on their hard drive. You can either manually install, download from the Redhat site, or find them on the internet (rpmfind.net, freshmeat, etc...).
