OK... now I'm confused Smilie

You initially said you can connect via the Internet to your
UNIX workstation from your NT PC. You now state you are
"hardwired" which to me means your UNIX workstation and
NT PC are physically co-located and you have some sort of
direct connection (serial cable?). Can you clarify this? Then
we can move forward with your problem.

Error

OK
Please have a look on my initial description and my note on the second replay !
There is only one way for communicate ! No other physical connection is possible as the hardwired one.
On above replays you can see the progress.
Thanks for your time.

OK then....
As I stated in my previous reply, since you
are connecting via the Internet, you are
most probably using "telnet". The fact that you
are using the "HyperTerminal" teminal emulation
software is irrelevant. If you system admins
are as strict as you say, they should NOT allow
telnet over the Internet. Again, I would suggest
they install SSH (and SCP) which would allow
you (and other users) to establish secure
terminal connections (with SSH) and securely
transfer files back and forth (with SCP).
Having said all this, HyperTeminal supports
various file transfer protocols such as Xmodem,
Ymodem and Zmodem as well as Kermit. You would
have to install one of these on your Solaris
system then start it on the UNIX end then use
the HyperTerminal "Transfer -> Receive File"
and select the protocol matching your server
side.

Thanks for your patience!
Now I´m able to understand what you meen.

OK. My last question.
Where can I find such a tool for the unix system.
Is there one you can recommend ?

best regards joerg

As for the X, Y and Zmodem servers, this is
shareware. The URL's...

http://www.omen.com/rzsz3.html
http://www.cslab.vt.edu/manuals/zmodem/sz.html

Kermit you can get from free...

http://www.columbia.edu/kermit/gkermit.html
http://www.helpdesk.umd.edu/unix/tra...nld-home.shtml

You can actually build, install and execute
these programs as a "regular" unix user (no
special permissions necessary) with some careful
setup if all you use it for is simply to
serve your own file transfers.

Word of caution... these protocols are NOT secure.
Anything you transmit can be intercepted, spoofed
or otherwise manipulated.

Enjoy Smilie
