A Unix career?

I am going on 16 and im wondering if a Unix career would be suitable for me when im 18, or if it will even be possible for me to get a job working as some sort of a junior sys admin at that age. I am just starting to get into all this Unix stuff and I see the vision.

So, is it really possible for me to get a job as a system admin at that age? Should I start doing soething else, and continue learning Unix on my spare time untill im 20 so i'll have 4 years of Unix experience instead of just 2?

I appreciate your time in advance, your oopinions will make a difference on my future.

Grayson

P.S. Im planing to have a Linux box set up within the next month, the only things i need are a hard drive and a case to complete the computer.

Just thought i'd mention...

I realize that many threads have been posted asking questions similar to mine, but none have been posted by someone my age asking the question. I also realize that i am probably way too ahead of myself, and i should use Unix before i evan start thinking about being a unix system admin., but i still would greatly appreciate opinions on the subject.

Thanx,

Grayson

Gavan,
Welcome to the world of Unix.
For your question. Suppose you should check the Unix vendors webpages for the answer but since you asked in this forum i suggest for you to check this thread for the nearest answer for your question.

You have many choices, Systems administration (controlling the behavior of your operating system & machine), network administration (how you machine interacts with the world), software development, including applications development (programs that run on unix, etc, so you would get an opportunity to expose yourself) and OS development (actual development of the unix operating system). There are many other areas.

killerserv gave you a good set of links above, in each of the suggested areas, you will get an opportunity to use Unix in one way or another.

IMHO, the another way to also learn Unix, is to learn the C language in a unix environment and use the C/Unix libraries, writing software programs, as a developer (if that is something you would like to consider?), it will give you a different perspective of unix.
